Ram Jethmalani visits Namchi

Namchi, April 14: The Chief Minister, Dr. Pawan Chamling met the Rajya Sabha MP, Mr. Ram Jethmalani at the Dak Bungalow Guest House. Mr. Jethmalani was here today for a one day visit to Namchi tourist spots. In the brief meeting, Mr. Jethmalani discussed with Dr. Chamling at length about Sikkim being a peaceful state which has attracted number of national and international leaders/agencies to visit and invest in Sikkim. He especially appreciated and applauded the Sikkim Government for giving utmost priority to education sector. On 15th April, Mr. Jethmalani who was accompanied by his friend and family members from Delhi visited the Pilgrimage cum Cultural Centre at Solophok. The concerned officials of the project showed the MP the master plan of Lord Shivaji’s statue that would be installed. Appreciating the concept, Mr. Jethmalani said that this Pilgrimage cum Cultural Centre would be a major attraction for tourist of all faiths. Next, he visited the Orchid Garden and then the Shridi Sai Baba Temple near Assangthang Helipad. While visiting the Helipad at Assangthang, DDO South, Mr. Dinesh Bhutia showed Mr. Jethmalani the Model Huts at Assangthang village constructed for the BPL (Below Poverty Line) people by the state Government. On his way to Gangtok from Namchi, also visited Samdrupste Guru Rimpoche Pilgrimage Centre, where he offered his prayers and lighted the butter lamps. Mr. Jethmalani said, “Although I am a Hindu, Buddha was the Greatest Man born”. Thereafter, he also stopped at the State Biodiversity Park at Damthang where he relished the nature’s beauty. His last stop was at the Temi Tea Garden, where he was received by the Tea Estate Manager, Mr. M. P. Chamling, who showed Mr. Jethmalani the various process of manufacturing tea. He was accompanied by Mr. O. T. Lepcha, Rajya Sabha MP, ADC (South), ASP (South), SDM (Namchi), SDM (Hqr), SE PWD, and other officials.
