The opposition political parties including SPCC, state BJP, CPI (M), SHRP party and the SGPP decided to fight the Panchayat and Municipality election with tactical understanding to sweep the election. However, no party will sacrifice the ideology of the individual party – the opposition political party will field its candidates only against the SDF and not against each other.
The ruling party will have its representative in all Panchayat and Municipality though its MLA and MP by the Act itself. To make it truly representative of all parties to avoid monopoly of single party, the opposition will plead to elect their representative in Panchayat and Municipality ward only from opposition political parties, so that the Panchayat and Municipality can act like an non political set up in which the ideology of none of the party will prevail, informed a press statement of the oppositions’ amalgamation.
With this mandate in the Panchayat and Municipality election, the opposition parties
are said to consider that the people have given the mandate to the combined opposition to solve the burning problem of reservation of seats in the Assembly not only for the Limboos & Tamangs as Scheduled Tribes, but also for Nepalese as a whole, beside keeping provision to section other than Sikkimese Bhutia- Lepcha and Nepalese.
In the event of the combined opposition parties given a mandate 75% and above,
the combined opposition parties will evolve the formula of reservation of seats in state Assembly within a month and will go to New Delhi to pursue with the UPA government.
