NAMCHI, April 26:Keeping in mind the welfare of the general population as a whole, a ‘pre-monsoon preparedness’ was given more emphasis in the South district. In context to that a meeting of the departmental officials was held here today in the office of the District Collector, South, D Anandan.
In the meeting, DC (South) called upon the officials of the various concerned departments to prepare themselves in advance to fight against the destruction expected in this coming monsoon. He also told the departments to be ready, so as to help minimize the destruction this year in comparison to the yesteryears.
He further directed the man power to be kept ready as to provide security to the public and also to minimize the destruction of the properties in this year’s monsoon, he also told the concerned departments to be alert and prepared to face the ‘monsoon challenge’ and the calamities.
In the post years, the monsoon has claimed the lives of many, along with property and cattle in and around the district, while also posing inconvenience in transportation and communication system, affecting the lives of many
